Security in traditional and old settlements has a unique position due to the special economic, social,
cultural and physical conditions they have, so that the lack or lack of security in old traditional
settlements causes irreparable problems in urban contexts and neighborhoods. to be One of the most important factors
of improvement And improving environmental security is knowing the structure and spatial understanding of the
environment. One of the main methods for understanding the spatial structure of the environment is the theory of
spatial configuration and its method, that is, space syntax.The main goal of this research is to know the security in traditional and old settlements of Dezful and Borujerd and to identify their differences. The method of conducting this research is analytical-interpretive, in which it is tried to use the parameters of spatial configuration, which are: macro-connectedness, local connectedness, depth, connection and control, and preparing their maps by means of Space software. Syntex, which is a specialized software for spatial planning, measures and evaluates the environmental security in traditional settlements in Dezful and Borujerd. After analyzing the spatial configuration of neighborhoods using Space Syntax software, the results of this research show that the environmental security in traditional and old settlements in Borujerd is much higher than traditional settlements in Dezful due to the presence of legibility, spatial coherence and permeability.
